Mindsets: Classroom Vs. Competition

I know you guys understand this, but typing this anyway for sake of reference:

There’s a difference between receiving coaching in a sparring or competitive situation, and classroom learning.

In the competitive situation you are in your best ‘do’ mode where action and thought are one. Thinking in this scenario means you’re no longer watching and feeling your opponent, which in the context of learning is the primary goal. After all, if we know 100% what our opponent is going to do, what is the purpose of sparring?

In a classroom environment however, reason is the priority.

If you can’t tell me why you’re doing something, and why it makes sense to you, how are you going to catch fish when you’re teacher isn’t there?
