Training: Structure & Perpetual Jamming

About 6 years ago I wanted to model what then coach Chip Kelly was doing with the Oregon Duck football team and bring it to BJJ.

What was missing was the fact that my needs are much, much different than 18-22 year old student athletes playing a seasonal sport on a huge stage. Common sense right!? lol

What does this mean? It means lifestyle practitioners can be a lot looser with our sessions, and while we respect the potency of planning and organization, we’re also free to scrap said plans to follow ideas sparked in the moment.

In conclusion, for the lifer, BJJ is a 24/7 jam session that respects but isn’t limited by structure because our ends are more exploratory and open ended.
