Going back to previous post, probably where some of the closed type questions and/or all encompassing answers come from is a desire to make things simple for beginners to grasp.
While it’s great to simplify things, a helpful reminder is, like everything else in life Jiu-Jitsu is context and objective dependent. That is, any ‘idea’ is just one possibility out of many designed to address a particular situation. Understanding the bigger picture is key.
In other words, there is no one or two ‘fundamentals’ or ‘principles’ that solve everything you’re going to come across. This is magical thinking that while well-intended isn’t functional because we aren’t building understanding on a flexible, adaptable, and present oriented base.
